Lake Tikhoe (Former Mill Pond)
The lake appeared almost 800 years ago after the Knights of the Teutonic Order created a dam on a small Cat Stream. The formed pond was called the Mill Pond (German: Muelenteich), and the stream - Rauschen Mill Stream. Here the largest water mill on the Samland Peninsula was located, which worked until the 1920s. Today Lake Tikhoe is a place of recreation for residents and visitors of the city.
